House in Serra de Freita

The hard textures of the House in Serra de Freita by Oficina d’Arquitectura mimicks the natural rocky surroundings of the slope it is built upon. Elongated windows allow the home’s inhabitants to overlook stunning Portuguese sunsets. A garage built into the land uses the environment to its advantage and natural wood panels contrast with the primarily concrete and granite exterior. The rectangular and geometric nature of the home creates interior rooms that interact with each other. An entire wall in the back of the home serves as one giant window which leads out to the backyard forest.
