Bridge School

Split into two areas by a small creek, the small village of Xiashi, China has bound their community together with the 'Bridge School'.  Created by two steel trusses spanning the creek, the bridge building houses a school as well as a pedestrian bridge underneath.  The modern design is far from the local building vernacular but its location and addressment of immediate surroundings have turned it into a central social space.  Designed by Li Xiaodong Atelier.
