loop chair

From experiments with paper came this minimal and essential form. The chair assembles with only one sheet and two scissor cuts. Although different, it is an extreme economy of gestures and actions.
In practice, the chair behaves a bit like a large leaf-spring, easily handling the heaviest loads. I have seen my cousin, at around 120 kg, easily enjoying this chair. The strength comes from both the physical form of the loops and the laminated polypropylene sheet.
