dip tables by pallucco of italy

dip tables are a perfect example of better living – or in this case, better design – through chemistry.

pallucco designers peter traag and sebastien noel take ordinary aluminum tables and immerse them – dip them, in other words – in an organic galvanic bath with natural pigments. this use of chemical and industrial manufacturing creates tables that manage to be austere and arresting at the same time. we think it’s a clever way to spruce up humble aluminum tables, and the geometric designs chosen by traag and noel are very controlled and attractive.

traag and sebastien tell us, “the table that we have created for pallucco is the result of totally new experiments on the industrial process of anodization, which is an organic process with the capacity to create fantastic colors, effects and nuances.” we have to agree.
