The building is a pool house addition to an existing dwelling. But in this case the ‘house’ is increase, mixing a double garage, living room, master-bed, gym and kitchen extension in the brief. This structure is situated to the west of the existing building, taking the stance of a traditional outbuilding, acting as a boundary to the paddock, whilst protecting the gardens from prevailing winds.

The flagship of the Symbol audio line, the Modern Record Console pays homage to “all in one” console hifi’s of the 1950’s, an idea who’s time, we believe, has come around again. Each cabinet is individually crafted in the tradition of fine bench-made furniture from solid American Walnut. The sculptural metal base is constructed from 1/4” plate steel and hand patinated to create a warm natural finish. The fundamental architectural proposition explored in this project was how do you add to a building which has its own history and place within the existing iconic environment of Campbell Parade. The design response was to place a lightweight metal clad structure onto the roof of the existing “art deco” building.

The single volume of one building is broken into smaller ones, different in height and size, placed freely but in relation to each other resulting into an ensemble.
