The appeal of this app is obvious – according to Carl Griffenkranz, vice president of marketing for Granite Transformations, “one of the biggest remodeling hurdles for many homeowners is trying to visualize what the new room will look like in their home.” It appears that the main advantages are that customers can spend as much time as they want perfecting the design they want, and the end result will more closely match their original concept.

In addition, the iGranite app allows users to share their designs and see pre-designed kitchens and bathroom by Granite Transformations.

Unfortunately, iGranite is only available as an app, significantly limiting the number of people that have access to it. Another downside is that users are constricted to using only Granite Transformations’ designs and patterns. However this is their first release and they are planning another one in spring that will include a custom mosaic tile designer.

of the original barn structure have been worked and smoothed creating the precise intervention within the interior space.
stairs lead inhabitants through the open plan, directing attention upwards to the vaulted ceilings which have been surfaced
with wooden planks. the kitchen and living rooms have been elevated to the highest level allowing views through the large
clerestory windows. natural daylight filters downward to the lower floors through the geometric bookcase which serves as
a partition between the library and corridor to the study.

function nami is a folded horn speaker which the person directly interacts with. by folding and unfolding it, the sound level is adjustedthaks to a flexion sensor . when the horn is fully folded, the sound is muted. nami has a dock ipod, but can also be connected directly to a computer with auxiliary cables. it includes two stereo speakers. inspiration how as a designer can I revisit the art of fold? fold is life? the fold gives life to inanimate surfaces. it involves a transition from surface to volume (from 2d to 3d). I chose to focus my study on that motion that gives life to something. the fold has many physical similarities with the sound. so couldn't it bring sound to life? the art of folding would be a way to translate the immateriality of sound into its physical conditions. "nami" means wave in Japanese langage. this word makes the sound wave and one of the representation of the fold match: both are ripples. if music is life, the object that communicates it shouldn't it be also "alive"? development the fold has many aesthetic (pleats, pleated used by Haute couture, origami) and functional (collapsibility, space saving) attributes. by creating nami, I tried to give value to its two qualities. with a new gesture and aesthetic innovation, nami brings more dreams and poetry compared to a classical stereo system. nami, through a new use scenario, gives life to a new multisensor sound experience. it stimulates new senses such as sight and touch. the aesthetic of folding is also integrated by using the codes and know-how used in haute couture for creating the pleats. visually, the person contributes to increasing physical volume. nami will perfectly fit into all types of interiors thanks to its interchangeable paper horns.

Cascading Creek House was conceived less as a house and more as an outgrowth of the limestone aquifers of the Central Texas geography. The roof is configured so as to create a natural basin for the collection of rainwater, not unlike the vernal pools found in the outcroppings of the Texas Hill Country. These basins harness additional natural flows through the use of photovoltaic and solar hot-water panels. The water,electricity and heat which are harvested on the roof tie into an extensive climate conditioning system which utilizes water source heat pumps and radiant loops to supply both the heating and cooling for the residence. The climate system is connected to geothermal ground loops as well as pools and water features thereby establishing a system of heat exchange which minimizes reliance on electricity or gas.

japanese architecture took a daring glance at a possible future when, in 1972, kisho kurokawa completed
the 'nakagin capsule tower building'. the two towers were built on the idea that structures, much like in nature,
could be created out of cells. 140 individual pods could be changed and moved as needed, creating a flexible
and adaptable unit. the towers consisted of a fixed central column to which these individual capsules
could be bolted and removed with four high-tension bolts. the idea was that every 25 years or so,
the pods could be replaced, giving the building a 200 year life span.

The existing single-level bungalow was cleverly transformed into a two-story contemporary residence. Located in Wiesbaden, Germany, the modern dwelling is a masterpiece of contemporary urban developments, creating a balanced volumetric architecture that allows further building if necessary. The roof line creates new opportunities in residential dwelling, especially since the new family of four living here needed more space, but did not have enough room on the property to build more.

kranjska gora, slovenia. the shape of the structure is largely dictated by the plot size and strict building requirements.
once the maximum dimensions were established, the volume was manipulated by removing horizontal and vertical blocks
of space from the main mass. the inward sloping roof and horizontal cut conceals the chimneys and ventilation pipes.
the elimination of the corners produces voids for balconies.

The house for a family with two children is situated on a former hillside vineyard that had remained undeveloped. On the northern slope of the hill adjoining a non-developable zone, the house is surrounded by large old trees. In order to be able to even use the site it was necessary to terrace the immediate surroundings, and the house was developed along the lines of the formed topography.
