Cubicle-dwellers, rejoice! Gone are the days of back pain, eye strain and general discomfort associated with your below average office chair. Embody from Herman Miller is a new state-of-the-art office chair designed with you, the average, every day "nine-to-fiver", in mind. Embody allows your body to move, while keeping your body supported.
Whether you like to recline, lean forward or sit up straight while at your computer, Embody provides you with consistent lower back support, no adjustment necessary. A brand new backfit adjustment mimics the position of your spine, whichever way you prefer to sit. No matter what your spinal curvature, this adjustment allows you to have a balanced posture while remaining aligned with your computer monitor.
As an added benefit, Embody allows for increased blood circulation. By fitting to your form and reducing seated pressure, this chair improves the flow of oxygen, decreasing your heart rate while you work. With its "one chair size fits all" design, Embody adapts to your size, shape, posture and spinal curvature. Additionally, Embody's seat depth adjusts to different thigh lengths and arm rest motions fit a broad range of arm widths.
Designed by Jeff Weber and the late Bill Stumpf, Embody is everything an office chair should be and more. 95% recyclable, PVC-free and Greenguard certified, Embody further supports Herman Miller's commitment to environmental sustainability. All packaged together in a sleek, chic, futuristic form - Embody is your answer to a comfortable, relaxed and stress free work day.

TREE

TREE
The coat and umbrella stand

It is inspired by the wooden umbrella stand reCOVER we showed in SaloneSatellite in 2007.
The branches turn around the central pole.
A great number of clothes and objects can be hung to the branches. The foot of the tree is made of natural coco fiber and constitutes a rug where wet shoes can be displayed while they dry.

NY LOFT

The Interlocking Puzzle Loft notches and interlocks various program elements into a tight assembly of volumes to maximize usable space. The existing concrete vaulted ceiling of the 700 sf loft has an undulating elevation of 11'-10" at its low point and 12'-3" at its high point. Not being possible to stack two full-height volumes, each volume is stacked with a half-height element: either a closet or a sleeping platform to provide the full program requirements. All horizontal surfaces are covered with maple wood, and the remaining vertical surfaces are painted white. Natural light bounces off the light shelves over the windows to wash the vaulted ceiling in a soft glow.

Woo house

This house for an architect, pianist and two children is conceived of as a place of repose within the city. The house is sited behind an existing colonial house, screened from the street. By using the existing house as a foil, a dialogue between old and new is established. The house focuses inward towards a two story living space which is surrounded by the family’s private rooms. A zone of circulation mediates between the two areas.

STONE CLOUD

The Korean architectural tradition of arranging primary living areas around a central courtyard provides the organizational parti of the house. The villa’s courtyard however is not entirely contained and has a view, reflecting a more open and contemporary interpretation of the traditional type. The exterior space and surrounding rooms open to the east and the urban community below. A series of terraced walls respond to the steep terrain of the site, moderating the progression. The final destination of the formal, exterior sequence of the 6,600 sf house is the roof terrace, a perch from which to view the courtyard below and the urban landscape beyond. A fabric canopy over the courtyard provides a festive environment for family celebrations and summer shading in the hot summer months.

PUTNEY MOUNTAIN RESIDENCE

The site on the southwestern slope of Putney Mountain is characterized by heavily wooded terrain, large outcroppings of ledge, and dramatic sweeping views. Three clearings in the woods frame the approach to the house from the east and open up the site to the surrounding landscape. The house consists of three simple volumes arranged around a large outcropping of exposed ledge. A living volume faces the western mountains, sleeping quarters face a southern meadow, and a shed volume houses storage and mechanical equipment.

All the new works surround an outdoor courtyard space which becomes the new centre of the house- accessed by a series of glass doors it is the opposite of the dark masonry-clad rooms of the old house. The refined palate of materials is subverted where volumes are removed to reveal the flesh inside - coloured bright red with glass tiles and joinery.

Tattoo House

An extension to an existing 3 bedroom house in Fitzroy North to provide new living and kitchen space for a growing young family.

Many of the design decisions were generated by the tight budget. The form is a simple box- the strongest form an architect can achieve at a bargain basement price.
Every element needed to perform multiple functions for maximum return- hence the kitchen bench becomes part of the stair, and the screening required by council reflects heat and glare away from the expansive windows, neatly eliminating the need for curtains.

Barrow House

The Barrow extension appears as an arrangement of timber boxes, each independently rotated and subjected to varying amounts of extruding and manipulating forces.
These separate actions result in a variety of shapes, which united, create an interior of differing volumes and organizations, providing an interesting double story addition to this weatherboard house.

A real transformer!

A former Funeral Home, Machine Shop, and home to a cult of outcasts, has been transformed into a 6,000 square foot living space and showroom for one of most prominent brands in the world of snow, big air, and fast boards. The owner is a young, fast-paced mover and shaker looking for a place to settle down...just a little.
The challenge of the renovation was to create a hip sales showroom to satisfy the needs of a mega sales presentation and complement the most fashion-forward of extreme sporting brands. While combining his needed was a living space that would provide room for a live-in sales team during the busy season, and a calm retreat for the owner, when his sales season is over.

CHEZ VALENTIN

This former artist studio caracterised by a difference in height which shares the volume from a simple to a fake double height (3.70 m under ceiling in the main room) had been originally marqued by a awkward mezzanine under which one couldn’t be up and had, to get on it, to pass through a small doorway managed into a separating wall existing between the 2 volumes.
First step the plan is freed from all occurrences. The matter is to work on a 50 m² appartment in which the variety of orientations, volumes make possible unusual, uncommon living situations.
The restraint of the demand of the client to fit out an independant bedroom has been turned into an advantage by putting this intermediary room in a central position, straddling the two floor levels, disconected from the floor. The bedroom becomes an islet in the heart of the appartment around which you can turn, experimenting different moods : up / down, below / above, on / under and revealing unseemly uses.
The bedroom, connoted as the archetype of privacy, intimacy, becomes an object of curiosity by transgressing his symbolic value, appearing like an anomaly. Open and visible from the entry, it stands for a huge inhabited furniture. Facing the dining room, it can be used as a “bumrest” or a bench.

2009 collection by Vincent and Paul Georgeson.

Solid wood, steel, and aluminum are the materials of focus for the 2009 collection. These materials have a timeless beauty and
durability. They are not the only materials in the collection, and will not be the focus for all furniture. We look forward to exploring
different materials and studying new production techniques and processes

Annie Residence

The house was built for two families in Austin and therefore is split into two living areas. The house consists of two pavilions connected by a glass hallway.

The design was greatly influenced by different regions and cultures. Both the use of the roof as an outdoor living space and the shading devices are derived from Moorish architecture. The body of water and the spatial continuity between inside and outside was inspired by Asian architecture. while the structural transparency of the volumes and the minimalist aspect of the interior was derived from Japanese pavilions.

Beverly Skyline Residence

he project began as a modest remodel, but turned into a full master-planning for the site; including complete interior and exterior recycle, an addition to an existing 1970's home, as well as re-organization of the garden. As the original house was poorly sited, a large motivation of the design was to reconnect the house with its site by utilizing the steep topography to capture the expansive views.

cubic gates

The cubic gates are modular concept of 6 body-materials and 6 partly colorful silk-shades applied to table, floor, pendant and wall-lamp. The different materials are freely to combine with each other - depending on taste and context.
The design of Christian Finke from the year 2000 is in its form convincing simple and in spite of its colors not too stylish. The plus of this collection is definitly materiality and color.

Church Point

The house sits amongst the trees and is supported on a series of concrete piles with tree-like steel supports. The house has a simple linear plan and is softened by the addition of timber decks that meet the ground at the back of the house. The curved steel beams that frame the decks and floor plate, are reminiscent of a ships prow and hover above the ground. An angled steel stair leads to the front door, which is painted a bright red, in contrast to the lush green landscape.

The clients had lived in the existing brick bungalow for a number of years, and wanted to build a new house that was environmentally sensitive and took advantage of the best views and aspect of the site.
They wanted a range of environmentally sustainable features, including water storage and re-use, solar hot-water heater, low-energy light fittings, natural ventilation and non-toxic building materials.

Tototo Armchair

Max Design makes its debut on the outdoor furniture scene with ready stackable armchair Tototo, which is the result of the continual request for outdoor seating and intends offering a solution that is striking to look at yet fun. A play has been made between the exterior and the interior surface of the chair: the slanting cut of the material toward the backrest let’s the interior of the armchair be seen, thereby revealing its shape while lengthening the rear legs.

The result: an elegant streamlined monobloc chair also suitable for indoors.

PITTWATER HOUSE

The site is situated directly on Clareville Beach facing due west, with extensive views across Pittwater. The ridgeline to the east, is dominated by beautiful mature angophoras that continue down to the waters edge.

The client required a new dwelling, which would take maximum advantage of the site, while ensuring privacy from neighbouring dwellings. They spoke of a tree-house with open plan living opening onto decks that could be used as an outdoor room throughout the year.
