Papa Bear

PP Mobler resumed the production of this chair in celebration of the workshop's 50th anniversary. Originally, it was designed for AP Furniture in 1951 by Hans J. Wegner. But as early as 1953, PP Mobler became the sub-supplier of the frames for the Teddy Bear Chair. This cooperative effort was followed by development work on many of Wegner's prototypes. Like many other Wegner chairs, The Teddy Bear Chair seems to refer to the animal kingdom with its characteristically playful and organic design. The chair received its name after a critic had referred to its armrests as 'great bear paws embracing you from behind'. In the later years, The Teddy Bear Chair has been one of the most popular Wegner designs of all. It is also commonly known as The Papa Bear Chair and also has a foot stool., PP120

moderngasm

The Turek Clinic, which opened in San Francisco last spring, has the antiseptic swagger of a Design Within Reach showroom. Eames Aluminum Group lounge chairs surround a glass Noguchi coffee table in the waiting area, where floor-to-ceiling windows peer out over Hornblower yachts clipping along in the bay. The clinical areas, painted stark white, hark back to an era when doctors took their time treating patients—nothing like the snip-and-run model of today. Paired with some lad-mag chic—big-screen TVs, rich-brown rugs, a balsa long board, and an image of Turek’s 1969 Maserati framed on the walls—the office is entirely the doctor’s own. “It’s not romanticized,” Smith says. “It’s kind of just what he likes and trusting that other guys are going to like the same thing.”

Small apartment in Valencia, Spain

Architect's duo Michael and Marta from designblue, designed this great apartment.
In brief, it's a studio apartment that required a separate sleeping area which they created and it was meant to offer privacy while simultaneously offering light and visual dialogue with the main room via openings and low walls.

clamp lamp

Clamp-Lamp uses ‘the’ bright red Solo speed clamp found in most workshops. Its well-known form used as the base, allows it to be attached to almost any surface, the shade? A stainless steel flowerpot. Reminiscent of a turned angle-poise lamp, these mundane individual objects offer cheeky alternatives to their original counterparts. But it is the attention to detail that allows them to stand out from the usual crowd of ready-mades. The fluid visual line that transforms the clamp to the task light, chromed clamp contact points for your finger, contemporary twisted-flex wire, readily available for UK and Europe and a switch subtlety paying homage to Castiglioni.

MYchair.

A new slant on things. MYchair is a sculpture in space. Sweeping and expressive. Impressive from all angles. Slanting, rounded and straight areas give way to each other. The base, seat and back of the lounge chair form a powerful composition. The upholstery traces convex and concave shapes. Intense colours create dynamic duets. The lounge chair is appealing and comfortable, and invites you to read, dream and relax. Enjoy the per-
spective.

Innovative garage doors by Silvelox

These quaint facades might blend in to a picturesque street scene, but they’re hiding a high-tech secret. Like a gadget from a James Bond movie, the box outlined on the wall is actually a garage door, customized with plaster to match the rest of the building. These bespoke garage doors from Silvelox can be fashioned to include windows or other architectural features, creating an illusion of continuity with the surrounding area. It’s a subtle and clever solution to an aesthetic problem faced by many period buildings.
On top of that, they have a wide selection of modern design garage doors that will complement and complete the look of any architecture project of your dreamhouse.

They also came out with the W_concept, which is not only a wood wall covering but it is also a structured project that plans the insertion of Silvelox entrance and garage doors in a wider system of façade design.
This concept has been specially studied for projects in which the basement plays an important role for the aesthetics of the building.
It is also suggested for common places situated in a context of a particular value.

winter trees by Jennifer Squires

Vanilla Dream was taken during a February thaw this year; the cool snow met with the warm air to create this lovely blanket of fog. The strange calm of Latent Beauty and On the Quiet was captured on a recent trip to one of Canada’s wine regions, Niagara-On-The-Lake; the dormant orchards there were quite mesmerizing in the cold of winter.
These fine art photographs will compliment dining rooms, living areas, bedrooms, and offices, and can be produced as large as 24x30 inches or as small as 4x6 inches. These images are available for sale via Etsy at www.jennifersquires.etsy.com and more of my work can be viewed at www.jennifersquires.ca.
